Invisible Graffitti Magnet Show
Invisible Graffiti Magnet Show opened on August 27th, featuring 17 artist-made magnets installed directly on the Richard Serra Torqued Ellipse. Marie Lorenz and I discovered the Torqued Ellipse stored in a rigging company lot in the Bronx. We took our chance encounter as an opportunity to respond to Serra and his concepts about the object, specifically his idea that any use of art is a misuse, and that sculpture is not architecture. Our intent was to carry out an act of conceptual vandalism. We misused Serra’s sculpture like a refrigerator door and claimed it as a found site. The show opened at 7 am and closed three and a half hours later.
